Junior OT/ICS Cybersecurity Analyst – BESS / Energy Storage

ABOUT THE ROLE

KRD Renewables is looking for a Junior OT/ICS Cybersecurity Analyst to support cybersecurity and IT/OT architecture assessments for large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and energy infrastructure projects.

The role is suitable for someone at the beginning of their career in industrial cybersecurity, OT security, automation, networking or energy systems who wants to develop specialist expertise in OT/ICS cybersecurity.

You will work alongside senior cybersecurity experts, BESS engineers and Technical Due Diligence specialists.

This is an analytical and technical advisory position rather than a traditional SOC monitoring role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Documentation Review

Review technical documentation relating to IT and OT systems.
Support analysis of BESS cybersecurity architecture.
Review system diagrams, network diagrams and equipment specifications.
Identify missing documents and information.
Maintain structured lists of technical comments and questions.

IT/OT Architecture

Support the assessment of:

IT/OT network architecture,
network segmentation,
DMZ and iDMZ architecture,
WAN connectivity,
communication interfaces,
remote-access architecture,
connections between OT systems and external networks.

SCADA, EMS, BMS and PCS

Support technical reviews of:

SCADA,
EMS,
BMS,
PCS.

Tasks may include:

reviewing system documentation,
identifying communication protocols,
reviewing interfaces between systems,
checking logging capabilities,
reviewing remote-access arrangements,
assessing available information against project requirements.

Cybersecurity Standards

Support assessments against standards and requirements such as:

ISA/IEC 62443,
NIST SP 800-82,
ANSI/ISA-95,
applicable cybersecurity requirements,
client-specific IT and OT standards.

You will receive guidance from senior team members when applying these standards to real projects.

Cybersecurity Monitoring

Support the review of integration capabilities with:

SIEM,
IDS/NIDS,
vulnerability-management platforms.

Typical tasks include reviewing:

available logs,
logging formats,
log transmission methods,
monitoring interfaces,
IDS architecture,
system integration documentation.

Risk Analysis

identification of cybersecurity risks.
Maintain cybersecurity risk registers.
Assist with classification of identified findings.
Support preparation of mitigation recommendations.
Track open issues and outstanding documentation.
Assist with updates following receipt of new project information.

Reporting

You will support the preparation of:

Cybersecurity and IT/OT Architecture Assessment Reports,
Executive Summaries,
risk registers,
non-compliance registers,
lists of missing information,
technical Q&A documentation,
mitigation recommendations.

Reports will primarily be prepared in Polish.

Project Support

The position may also involve:

participation in technical meetings,
preparation of meeting notes,
supporting technical Q&A,
communication with engineering teams,
coordination of documentation,
cooperation with senior cybersecurity specialists,
cooperation with BESS, electrical and Technical Due Diligence teams.

Required Profile

We are looking for someone with a technical background and a clear interest in OT/ICS cybersecurity.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

cybersecurity,
IT,
computer science,
telecommunications,
automation and robotics,
electrical engineering,
power engineering,
industrial control systems.

We expect:

basic understanding of computer networks,
basic understanding of cybersecurity principles,
ability to read technical diagrams and documentation,
analytical thinking,
attention to detail,
willingness to learn OT/ICS cybersecurity,
good Microsoft Office skills,
very good Polish,
English sufficient to understand technical documentation.

Desirable Knowledge

Knowledge or experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage:

OT or ICS environments,
SCADA systems,
industrial communication protocols,
network segmentation,
firewalls,
VLANs,
DMZ architecture,
SIEM,
IDS/NIDS,
ISA/IEC 62443,
NIST cybersecurity standards,
energy infrastructure,
renewable energy,
BESS technology,
automation systems.

Previous professional experience in BESS is not required.
